Samuel was adopted a few years ago but sadly found wandering the streets. We attempted to contact his owners, but they left island. We suspect he was just abandoned, which is not cool.
He went into a short term foster home where he was loved. His foster parent told us: "Samuel, affectionately known as Sammie, was an absolute joy to foster. He is a happy, gentle, playful boy who is full of life and personality. Everywhere he went, Sammie made friends. He loved every person he met and was always ready for a pat, a cuddle, or simply some attention. If there was an opportunity to snuggle, he was sure to take it!
Sammie was wonderful with other dogs and enjoyed playing with my neighbour's dog in our enclosed yard. He also showed no concern around chickens. The only temptation he couldn't quite resist was wanting to chase a running cat.
During his stay, Sammie accompanied me out for dinner and was the perfect gentleman. He relaxed quietly while we ate, although he naturally wanted to say hello to everyone around him. He adored the restaurant staff, and they quickly fell in love with him too.
He settled into my home remarkably well and quickly learned the routine, going to the door whenever he needed to go outside. He loved spending time in the yard playing with toys, which are one of his favourite things. By the end of the weekend, Sammie was completely at home. He had even made himself a regular visitor at the neighbours' house, where he would stop by to say hello and, if he was lucky, sneak a treat.
I cannot say enough about what a wonderful dog Samuel is. Having recently lost my own dog, there was a hole in my heart that felt impossible to fill. While no dog could ever replace Jack Sparrow, Sammie certainly brought joy, laughter, and love into my home and helped fill a small part of that space. Any family would be incredibly fortunate to welcome this sweet, affectionate, and loving boy into their lives.”
