Name: Topper Sex: Male Breed: Domestic Short Hair Age: Adult.
Topper was found with an injury in December 2023 and brought to the shelter. He did not get a lot of socializing in his early months so he is quite a shy boy.
He went into a foster home when we evacuated the shelter for Hurricane Beryl in July 2024 and his foster mom sent us this feedback: "Here is an updated photo of Topper - he is still getting used to us and more comfortable to venture out of the room to eat and play – as long as we keep our distance lol!
He is super quiet, doesn’t scratch furniture or chew anything he shouldn’t chew, the purfect houseguest! He is definitely happy indoors, especially if he can hang out underneath a bed, wardrobe or cabinet. He uses his litterbox and doesn’t make any messes, although he does kick up some of his litter when he tries to cover up his business – which I read is quite typical for cats!"
Fostering is very important for cats like Topper, they get used to being around people and will start to appreciate the finer things in life!
Topper has come along way since the above, which was almost 2 years ago. He is still not the first cat to greet you when you come into the cat room. He likes to sit and wait for you to notice him and if you call his name he comes over and wants some attention and lots of pats. He loves a good brush and enjoys his treats.
